Previz and Animatic
Hmm...finally got my animatic and previz done! Was going to use traditional pen-and-paper to rotoscope, but decided to use Wacom instead (technology rules!!!)

My Production Schedule and Shot Sheet
Hmm...I think this is my work schedule. Of course, things might change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Ok, so the shot list is taken from stills of the epic movie "Shaolin Soccer". This is because I want to make an homage to the movie and learn the skills to produce something like this so that I can apply it at work (imagine: same technique but applied to other sports!!!) Although it looks simple, I can foresee what the problems might be:
1) the soccer ball is a combo of 2D and 3D models as well as (maybe) a real soccer ball (to be marked and used as reference)
2) the light rays, glowing tail and fireball look may need PyroFX in Houdini (and I already mentioned earlier, Houdini hates me!!!)
3) particles of bits and pieces of the grass flying up and into a vortex shape as the ball approaches the keeper (Houdini again?)
4) The "shockwave ripple" in the last shot definitely needs Houdini. Thank God Thibault made us do the exploding floor exercise...can just adept (Merci Thibault)
Shot 3 (POV of the ball approaching the keeper) may need a motion-control camera (say WHAT!!?!). Nah...screw that...just shoot straight on green-screen, key-out the green and rotate the shot in Nuke!
As I calculated the total duration of the sequence may be less than 30 secs. Is it enough? I don't know. At 10 secs/month, I might just have enough time to finish up the project.
Now...time to meditate and pray for a miracle!
Storyboard...sort of
STORYBOARD...sort of :-(
So this is the (very rough) version of my storyboard, created using the old-school way - pencil and paper. While I hope to have a very nice storyboard in a manga-anime style, I think what's more important is to get the rough feel out first before fleshing out the details.
Okay I confess: I can't draw even if my life depended on it!
